Browser Security

The internet browser is the application that users use to view websites. The browser does this by having the user type in the name of the site or by searching for sites that are relative to the text that they use in the search. This creates different entrances into your machine through the browser. You can protect against these entrances by using small applications that go into the browser. These small applications are called browser addons.

Better Privacy

Better Privacy deletes long term cookies which hold data about the user and serves to protect against special long-term cookies, a new generation of ‘Super-Cookie’, which silently conquered the Internet. This new cookie generation offers unlimited user tracking to industry and market research. Concerning privacy, Flash-cookies are most critical. This add-on was made to make users aware of those hidden, never expiring objects and to offer an easier way to view and to manage them – since browsers are unable to do that for you

NoScript blocks scripts from automatically running when you enter a web site. It allows JavaScript, Java (and other plugins) only for trusted domains of your choice (e.g. your home-banking web site). This whitelist based pre-emptive blocking approach prevents exploitation of security vulnerabilities (known and even unknown!) with out any loss of functionality

Smart HTTPS forces each web page to send and receive data using SSL/TLS encryption. This will make the data that is passed between your browser and the web server completely unreadable

Self Destructing Cookies

Self-Destructing Cookies automatically removes cookies when they are no longer used by open browser tabs. With the cookies, lingering sessions, as well as information used to spy on you, will be expunged. Websites will only be permitted to identify you while you actually use them and can not stalk you across the entire web. This is the closest you will get to cookieless browsing without breaking every second site or tedious micromanaging

DuckDuckGo is a search engine that doesn’t track you (as much), shows better sites for your search queries, and has less clutter such as advertisements. I like to use this search engine when I want a little more privacy in regards to my web searches at that time

Smart Referer

Smart Referer automatically removes the referrer when changing domains. This means that the site that you just loaded does not know from which site you came. You can also set up a static site as the referring site. For example, if you set your referring site to then every site you visit from then on will think that you got to their site from

Toggle Proxy

Toggle Proxy is an addon that puts a proxy server between the browser and website. It becomes an intermediary step and can help hide you by making the proxy server seem as if it made the website request rather than your browser. Therefore, the site or anyone sniffing the connection may see that the proxy server wanted to visit the site instead of you

LastPass is a password manager that simplifies everything you do online by remembering your passwords, logging into your sites with one click, creating strong passwords for every account, and has a form filler with your provided information. The database is cloud based and is fully encrypted
